Volunteering at Newton Abbot Museum

There are 48 volunteers at present

Volunteers bring so many different skills to the museum,

  • education skills

  • exhibition & creative skills,

  • pratical skills

  • administrative skills

  • cataloguing skills

  • They also bring the skills to welcome the public and to help interpret the town's history.

The hours they give for free to the museum (and therefore the town) are very impressive. The museum is small and every available space is used.

Without the volunteers the museum would not be able to run!

Have you ever thought about volunteering in your local museum?
Just giving two hours a week to the museum would be of great assistance....

Over the last year Teignbridge museum volunteers have attended courses in:

•         Governance
•         Volunteer management
•         Looking after collections
•         IT Skills
•         Fundraising
•         Collecting and caring for oral history
•         Emergency First Aid in the workplace
•         Working with Artists and Galleries
